Uber Eats vs. DoorDash vs. Grubhub: Which Has the Best Deals?

Which food-delivery platform offers the best promotions: Uber Eats, DoorDash, or Grubhub? DealMeal analyzed 454,431 historical offers observed across the three platforms, plus 60,266 recent offer observations and more than 1 million menu-item observations, to compare the deals shoppers are most likely to encounter.

The results do not produce one universal winner. Instead, each platform has a distinct discount strategy. Uber Eats stands out for buy-one-get-one-free promotions, DoorDash relies heavily on percentage discounts, and Grubhub more frequently advertises fixed dollar savings.

Quick answer

There is no single best food-delivery app for deals. Uber Eats is the strongest option when you can use a BOGO promotion. Grubhub generally advertises larger dollar-off and percentage-off amounts, with a lower median minimum order. DoorDash offers percentage discounts more consistently, but its promotions tend to require more spending.

Menu prices usually do not settle the question. Across 12,327 like-for-like menu-item comparisons, the median price difference between platforms was 0.0%. The best choice therefore depends more on the promotion attached to your intended order than on the app itself.

Key findings from DealMeal’s platform comparison

  • Uber Eats is the BOGO leader: 35.1% of its observed offers matched a BOGO category or title pattern, compared with 13.8% on DoorDash and 13.1% on Grubhub.

  • Grubhub advertises the largest nominal discounts: its parsed dollar-off offers had a $6 median, while its percentage offers averaged 27.18% off.

  • DoorDash is the most percentage-driven: 51.4% of its offers stated a percentage discount, although the 25th percentile, median, and 75th percentile were all 20%.

  • DoorDash requires the most spending: its promotions had a $25 median minimum order, a $30.13 mean, and a $45 threshold at the 90th percentile.

  • Free delivery is uncommon: it appeared in 1.32% of Uber Eats offers, 0.71% of DoorDash offers, and 0.02% of Grubhub offers.

  • Headline savings need context: in the recent structured dataset, the median promotion required $4 of spending for every $1 saved.

These figures should not be interpreted as a raw popularity ranking. Uber Eats represented 71.4% of the historical three-platform sample, so total counts are influenced by uneven investigation coverage. Within-platform rates, such as the share of Uber Eats offers classified as BOGO, are more useful for comparison.

Which platform has the best BOGO deals?

Uber Eats is the clear BOGO leader in the observed data. DealMeal identified 113,769 Uber Eats offers that either used the Buy One Get One Free category or included phrases such as “buy one,” “buy 1,” “BOGO,” or “2 for 1” in the offer title.

Those offers represented 35.1% of all Uber Eats promotions in the historical sample. DoorDash had 9,260 matching offers, or 13.8% of its total, while Grubhub had 8,221, or 13.1%.

Observed BOGO offers by platform Platform BOGO offers Share of platform offers Uber Eats 113,769 35.1% DoorDash 9,260 13.8% Grubhub 8,221 13.1%

A BOGO offer can produce substantial value, but only when the second item is useful. Buying two items to trigger a promotion does not automatically save money if one item goes uneaten or if the promotion causes the cart to exceed the amount you originally intended to spend.

Before ordering, verify which menu items qualify. In DealMeal’s four-day current snapshot, only 2,730 of 272,759 menu-item observations on July 28 were flagged as matching the store’s advertised offer. That was approximately 1.0% of observed items, showing why a restaurant-level promotion does not necessarily apply to most of its menu.

Which platform has the best dollar-off deals?

Grubhub had the strongest fixed-dollar promotions among offers that explicitly stated a dollar value. Its median discount was $6, compared with $5 for both Uber Eats and DoorDash. Grubhub’s mean was also the highest at $7.37.

Dollar-off values parsed from historical offer titles Platform Offers parsed Median Mean 90th percentile Grubhub 33,184 $6 $7.37 $10 Uber Eats 3,791 $5 $6.54 $11 DoorDash 21,727 $5 $5.66 $8

The coverage difference is essential. A dollar amount appeared in 52.8% of Grubhub offers and 32.4% of DoorDash offers, but only 1.2% of Uber Eats offers. Uber Eats more often communicates value through BOGO or free-item promotions, so its $5 median describes a small part of its promotion catalog.

This means the table answers a specific question: when a platform advertises a fixed-dollar discount in the offer title, how large is that amount? It does not establish the average savings across every order or every promotion on that platform.

Which platform has the best percentage-off deals?

Grubhub’s parsed percentage promotions were nominally the deepest. The platform had a 25% median discount and a 27.18% mean, compared with a 20% median on both Uber Eats and DoorDash.

DoorDash, however, offered percentage-based promotions much more frequently. A percentage value appeared in 51.4% of its observed offers, compared with 12.5% for Uber Eats and 5.7% for Grubhub.

Percentage-off values parsed from historical offer titles Platform Offer coverage Median discount Mean discount 90th percentile Grubhub 5.7% 25% 27.18% 40% Uber Eats 12.5% 20% 22.95% 30% DoorDash 51.4% 20% 20.90% 25%

DoorDash’s discount percentages were especially concentrated. Its 25th percentile, median, and 75th percentile were all 20%. In practical terms, DoorDash users were more likely to encounter an offer expressed as a percentage, but the amount was usually close to 20%.

Grubhub’s larger percentage values came from a much smaller subset of its catalog. A shopper should therefore distinguish between promotion availability and promotion depth. DoorDash led on availability, while Grubhub led on the size of the parsed discount.

Free-item and free-delivery promotions

Uber Eats leads on free-item offers

Free-item promotions appeared in 11.0% of Uber Eats offers, compared with 2.6% on DoorDash and 2.9% on Grubhub. The historical counts were 35,763 for Uber Eats, 1,715 for DoorDash, and 1,795 for Grubhub.

The recent structured dataset showed that free-item offers required a median $20 order. The 10th percentile was $15 and the 90th percentile was $30. A “free” item can still require a meaningful increase in cart size, so the value depends on whether the required purchase matches what you already planned to order.

Free delivery is too rare to choose a platform around

Free-delivery promotions accounted for 1.32% of Uber Eats offers and 0.71% of DoorDash offers. On Grubhub, the rate was just 0.02%.

These figures cover promotions explicitly identified as free delivery in the observed offer data. They do not measure subscription benefits, account-specific benefits, delivery fees at checkout, or other conditions not present in the supplied dataset.

DealMeal data insight: read the threshold before the discount

In 28,549 promotions with structured discount and minimum-order data, the median offer required $4 of spending for every $1 saved. The 25th percentile was $3, the 75th percentile was $5, and the 90th percentile reached $7 of required spending per dollar saved.

Doordash vs UberEats vs Grubhub Cover Image 3

A large headline discount may offer weak value when it requires additional, unplanned spending.

A $10 discount may look better than a $6 discount, but not when the first requires a much larger cart than you intended to buy. The most useful promotion is usually the one that fits your planned order with the least additional spending.

How minimum-order requirements compare

DoorDash and Uber Eats both had a $25 median minimum order among offers where DealMeal could identify a threshold. Grubhub’s median was lower at $20.

The differences become clearer higher in the distribution. DoorDash’s mean minimum was $30.13 and its 90th-percentile threshold was $45. Uber Eats had a $26.81 mean and a $40 threshold at the 90th percentile. Grubhub had a $21.06 mean and a $40 threshold at the 90th percentile.

Minimum-order thresholds identified in historical offers Platform Offers with threshold Median Mean 90th percentile DoorDash 29,686 $25 $30.13 $45 Uber Eats 103,996 $25 $26.81 $40 Grubhub 2,326 $20 $21.06 $40

For a small order, these thresholds may matter more than the advertised percentage. A 20% promotion with a $25 minimum provides no value to someone planning a $15 order unless adding more food is genuinely useful.

Are menu prices cheaper on Uber Eats, DoorDash, or Grubhub?

The DealMeal snapshot did not identify one platform with consistently lower menu prices. On July 28, 2026, DealMeal matched 163 physical restaurants listed on at least two platforms. Matches required a normalized restaurant name and a location within approximately 1 kilometer.

After requiring at least five shared menu items, the analysis produced 166 platform pairs and 12,327 individual item comparisons. The median price difference across all pairs was 0.0%.

Doordash vs UberEats vs Grubhub Cover Image 2

Comparing the same restaurant and intended order across multiple platforms can reveal differences in promotions and menu pricing.

Like-for-like menu-price comparisons on July 28, 2026 Platform comparison Matched stores Median price difference DoorDash vs. Grubhub 110 0.0% DoorDash vs. Uber Eats 38 0.0% Grubhub vs. Uber Eats 18 0.0%

That does not mean prices are always identical. Twenty-three of the 166 matched restaurant pairs, or 13.9%, differed by more than 5%. Examples included Noosh, with a median shared-item price 8.3% lower on Grubhub, and Rasa, with a median 4.8% advantage on DoorDash.

Other observed examples included New York Pizza Factory at 5.6% cheaper on Grubhub and Two Burritos at 3.7% cheaper on Grubhub. Individual item differences included an A&W root beer listed at $2.18 on one platform and $2.00 on another, banana pudding at $8.18 versus $7.50, and a 12-inch steak and cheese sub at $18.99 versus $17.99.

The practical conclusion is not that menu prices never vary. It is that the app name alone does not predict which listing will be cheaper. The minority of restaurants with meaningful differences are worth comparing individually.

What about pickup availability?

Pickup was available on 96.1% of DoorDash offers in the historical data, compared with 82.3% on Grubhub and 55.0% on Uber Eats. This describes whether pickup was available, not whether pickup was cheaper or whether a particular promotion applied to pickup orders.

When pickup is practical, compare it with delivery before placing the order. The supplied data does not include verified final checkout totals, delivery fees, taxes, tips, or subscription benefits, so it cannot establish the exact savings from switching fulfillment methods.

Which food-delivery platform is best for your order?

Best platform to check first by ordering scenario Ordering scenario Platform to check first Reason You need two qualifying items Uber Eats 35.1% of observed offers matched BOGO criteria. You are placing a larger order Grubhub Highest median dollar discount and lowest median minimum threshold. You want a percentage promotion DoorDash 51.4% of offers included a percentage value. You want the lowest menu price Compare individually The median like-for-like price difference was 0.0%, but 13.9% of pairs differed by more than 5%. You are placing a genuinely small order No universal winner Minimum thresholds can prevent otherwise attractive discounts from applying. You are choosing based on free delivery Do not rely on one platform Free-delivery promotions were uncommon on all three.

These recommendations identify where each platform was strongest in the observed data. They do not guarantee that the same promotion will be available for every customer, restaurant, city, or order.

Seven ways to save more on food-delivery orders

  1. Start with the order you actually want. Decide which items and quantities you need before comparing promotions. This reduces the chance of increasing your spending simply to qualify for a discount.

  2. Compare the same restaurant across multiple apps. Most matched restaurants had similar menu pricing, but 13.9% of platform pairs differed by more than 5%.

  3. Calculate the effective discount. Divide the required spending by the advertised savings. A promotion requiring $4 of spending per $1 saved is different from one requiring $7.

  4. Inspect eligible menu items. A restaurant may advertise an offer that applies to only a small selection of products.

  5. Use BOGO only when both items have value to you. The second item is not meaningful savings when it creates waste or replaces something you would rather order.

  6. Compare pickup and delivery availability. Pickup was widely available in the observed data, especially on DoorDash, but verify the promotion’s fulfillment restrictions before ordering.

  7. Review the final cart rather than the headline offer. The dataset measures advertised promotions and listed menu prices, not realized checkout savings after every possible charge or account-specific benefit.

Regional price differences can matter as much as platform choice

DealMeal’s July 28 menu snapshot covered 2,901 stores and 272,759 item observations. Across that snapshot, the median menu-item price was $10.79, with a 25th percentile of $5.49, a 75th percentile of $17.56, and a 90th percentile of $24.99.

Median item prices also varied among the cities represented in the dataset. Fairfax had a median of $8.69, Vienna $8.75, Newark $9.29, Elgin $9.55, Falls Church $10.39, Arlington $10.97, Sunnyvale and Mountain View $12.00, and Los Angeles $12.99.

That is a 49% spread between the lowest and highest city medians in this specific snapshot. It should not be treated as a national cost-of-food ranking because the current dataset covers only four days and is concentrated in Northern Virginia plus a small number of additional metropolitan areas.

Readers can browse available DealMeal regions or review local deal pages for Fairfax food deals, Falls Church food deals, and food deals near George Mason University.

Methodology and limitations

The primary dataset was the DealMeal v3 investigation archive. It contained 454,431 offers from Uber Eats, DoorDash, and Grubhub observed between July 13, 2025, and July 2, 2026. The period covered 355 calendar days and 288 distinct investigation days.

The wider archive contained 680,678 offers across 18 sources, but this analysis was limited to the three marketplace platforms. The three-platform dataset included 324,494 Uber Eats offers, 67,118 DoorDash offers, and 62,819 Grubhub offers.

The investigations were generated through 1,199 searches covering 314 distinct cities, 425 ZIP codes or postcodes, and four countries. The United States accounted for 956 searches, Canada 108, the United Kingdom 104, and Australia 31. Coverage was uneven and heavily concentrated in Falls Church, Virginia.

A secondary current dataset covered four consecutive days from July 25 through July 28, 2026. It contained 60,266 offer observations and 1,067,423 menu-item observations. This snapshot supplied structured promotion fields and menu prices that were unavailable in the historical archive.

Historical dollar discounts, percentages, and minimum-order values were extracted from offer-title text. Parse coverage differed substantially by platform, so these values describe only the offers where the relevant amount could be identified. Values outside the documented extraction ranges were discarded.

BOGO offers were counted when the stored deal category indicated Buy One Get One Free or when the title matched phrases including “buy 1,” “buy one,” “BOGO,” or “2 for 1.” Percentiles were calculated using the nearest-rank method.

For like-for-like menu comparisons, DealMeal matched restaurants using a normalized name and coordinates rounded to two decimal places, approximately 1.1 kilometers. Item names were also normalized, and each restaurant pair needed at least five shared items. Nearby branches of the same chain could occasionally be merged, so the 163 matched restaurants should be treated as an upper bound.

Several limitations affect interpretation:

  • Uber Eats represented 71.4% of the historical sample, so raw platform counts are not directly comparable.

  • Forty-four percent of historical offers had no usable category: 27.9% had no category field and 16.0% were marked Uncategorized.

  • Investigation volume varied by month due to collection schedules, not necessarily changes in market activity or consumer demand.

  • Offers were recorded when observed, not when originally published, and no platform-provided expiration date was stored.

  • DoorDash coordinates were missing from 51.1% of its historical offers, weakening geographic comparisons for that platform.

  • The current menu dataset covers only four days and is concentrated in Northern Virginia and several other cities.

  • City, cuisine, price-tier, and ZIP metadata were incomplete in the current dataset.

  • The analysis does not establish realized checkout savings, final totals, taxes, tips, delivery charges, membership benefits, or account-specific promotions.

Frequently asked questions

Is Uber Eats, DoorDash, or Grubhub cheapest?

No platform was consistently cheapest in DealMeal’s like-for-like menu comparison. The median price difference across 12,327 shared-item comparisons was 0.0%, although 13.9% of matched restaurant pairs differed by more than 5%.

Which delivery app has the most BOGO deals?

Uber Eats had the highest BOGO rate. BOGO offers represented 35.1% of its historical offers, compared with 13.8% on DoorDash and 13.1% on Grubhub.

Which platform has the biggest percentage discounts?

Grubhub had the largest parsed percentage discounts, with a 25% median and a 27.18% mean. However, percentage amounts appeared in only 5.7% of Grubhub offers, compared with 51.4% of DoorDash offers.

Which platform has the best dollar-off promotions?

Grubhub had a $6 median among offers that stated a dollar discount, compared with $5 for Uber Eats and DoorDash. Dollar amounts appeared in 52.8% of Grubhub offers, 32.4% of DoorDash offers, and 1.2% of Uber Eats offers.

Does DoorDash usually require a higher minimum order?

DoorDash had the highest mean minimum threshold at $30.13 and the highest 90th-percentile threshold at $45. Its median was $25, matching Uber Eats but exceeding Grubhub’s $20 median.

Are free-delivery deals common?

No. Free-delivery promotions appeared in 1.32% of Uber Eats offers, 0.71% of DoorDash offers, and 0.02% of Grubhub offers in the historical dataset.

How much do I usually need to spend to use a promotion?

In the recent structured dataset, the median promotion required $4 of spending for every $1 saved. The exact requirement depends on the restaurant and offer.

Should I use one delivery app exclusively?

The data does not support choosing one platform for every order. Each app performs differently by promotion type, and some restaurants have meaningful menu-price differences across platforms.

Final verdict: which platform has the best food-delivery deals?

Uber Eats, DoorDash, and Grubhub discount food in different ways. Uber Eats is the strongest place to look for BOGO and free-item promotions. DoorDash provides the most consistent access to percentage-off offers. Grubhub advertises the largest nominal dollar and percentage savings while requiring the lowest median minimum order.

The correct choice still depends on the order you were going to place. Check the qualifying items, minimum spend, menu price, and final cart before deciding. A smaller promotion that fits your order can provide better value than a larger discount that requires unnecessary spending.

Instead of assuming one app always wins, compare the specific restaurant and promotion available at the moment you order. That is where the meaningful savings are most likely to be found.
